Hong Kong, Tuesday 14 October 2025 – The Australian Good Design Awards, one of the world’s longest-running international design award programmes, has announced this year’s Australian Good Design Award Winners as part of the Official Good Design Awards Week – Rewarding, Defining, and Celebrating Good Design.

This year’s theme, “Design for Better”, underscores the vital role design plays in shaping a more balanced, inclusive, and sustainable world. From reimagining products and services to reshaping cities and systems, the Awards showcase how design has the power to drive positive change for people, planet, and prosperity.

Among the Winners was Project House @1QRW, recognised with a prestigious Australian Good Design Award Winner accolade in the Social Impact category.

Project House @1QRW

Situated on the ground floor of a century-old tenement building in the historic district of Sheung Wan since 2023, Project House @1QRW has been enriching neighbourhood life as a community co-living space. It offers weekly updated schedules of programmes and services for nearby residents, mostly elderly, to foster connections and alleviate social exclusion and solitude.

Now packed with a rotation of practical services such as clothing alterations and health checks, and soul-enriching activities from ukulele to knitting, the vibrant community space is part of onebite’s Project House initiative, a social experiment addressing the missing link between the rising phenomenon of vacant ground-level shop spaces and the social demand for community spaces. With minimal design interventions, onebite transforms vacant city spaces into a community matching platform, connecting landlords with local non-profit organisations, social enterprises and community organisers to fully utilise idle commercial spaces, creating commercial values for landlords and social benefits for community development. Since 2017, Project House has helped transform vacant shop spaces in Sham Shui Po, Wan Chai and Aberdeen, enriching the local community with over 40 partners.
