  • This is a full-time, on-site position based in Hong Kong for a dedicated and knowledgeable Researcher in the Research & Engagement department. It offers an exciting opportunity for candidates with a strong passion for urban studies and evidence-based design to make a positive contribution to the community.

    Responsibilties

    • Design research frameworks and lead the team’s research efforts, including planning its directions and roadmaps.

    • Conduct data analysis for community baseline studies, including scraping open data and government datasets.

    • Create data visualisations and synthesise findings for various audiences and purposes, such as official reports, journal articles, blog posts, and social media content.

    • Perform qualitative and desktop research, as well as primary data collection.

    • Collaborate closely with other teams to support their design and community projects with insightful research.

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated knowledge and over three years of experience in research related to urban studies, cultural studies, urban planning, urban design, urban data, or similar fields. More experienced candidates will be considered for senior positions.

    • Proven ability to write for various audiences in both Chinese and English, adjusting tone and style as needed.

    • Native-level Cantonese, fluent in English, with proficiency in Mandarin and other languages a plus.

    • Familiarity with research tools, urban software, and programming languages (e.g., Python, Tableau, Power BI, ArcGIS) is essential.

    • Proficiency in graphic design, such as creating infographics, is advantageous.

    • Candidates must be based in Hong Kong or have the legal right to work full-time in Hong Kong.

    • A strong passion for urban issues and people-centred design projects.

  • This is a full-time, on-site position based in Hong Kong for an enthusiastic and skilful Facilitator in the Research & Engagement department. It offers an exciting opportunity for candidates with a strong passion for community engagement and participatory design to make a positive impact on the community.

    Responsibilities

    • Design and implement community engagement and participatory design activities, including but not limited to workshops, focus groups, street polling, and interviews across Hong Kong and beyond.

    • Create and develop materials for engagement activities to enhance participant experience.

    • Consolidate insights and prepare comprehensive reports to document feedback and findings.

    • Conduct desktop research to inform engagement strategies and the design process.

    • Collaborate with other teams and coordinate with external parties to ensure project success.

    • Be flexible to work evenings and weekends for engagement activities as required.

    Requirements

    • A strong passion for community engagement and design.

    • Demonstrates knowledge and over two years of experience in design thinking, community engagement, service design, social innovation, participatory design, placemaking, or similar fields. More experienced candidates will be considered for senior roles.

    • User-centred mindset with robust systems thinking capabilities.

    • Proficient in consolidating insights and writing reports in both Chinese and English.

    • Native-level Cantonese, fluent in English, with proficiency in Mandarin and other languages regarded as a plus.

    • Familiarity with design software (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign) and other relevant tools is advantageous.

    • Candidates must be based in Hong Kong or have the legal right to work full-time in Hong Kong.

  • Job Description
    We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Project Assistant at Project House @1QRW. This role will involve working closely with the sewing squad to coordinate and facilitate sewing training, sewing alteration services, beginner workshops, and the sewing machine library in our community space. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in community engagement, sewing, and empowering individuals through capacity-building activities.

    Organisation & Project Description
    Project House @1QRW serves as a community shared space located at the shop space at 1 Queen’s Road West in Sheung Wan, the former “Yau Kee Hop”. We hope to connect the community of Sheung Wan and provide a comfortable breathing space by weaving heritage, community and culture through creative happenings. By leveraging this iconic shop space and bridging local community resources, we intend to foster and strengthen the Sheung Wan community network and resilience. Project House @1QRW aspires to be a gathering space for Sheung Wan kaifongs, a place to meet and connect with one another via both regular services and thematic activities.

    The Sheung Wan Sewing Squad brings together a diverse group of mothers, retirees, and elderly residents from the neighbourhood. This dedicated team has the opportunity to receive professional training in providing alteration services to the community, creating high-quality products, and hosting engaging public workshops. Our goal is to empower residents by equipping them with valuable sewing skills, enabling them to contribute to the community while fostering flexible employment opportunities.

    Responsibilities

    Manage the sewing squad at Project House @1QRW:

    • Manage the daily activities of the sewing squad and facilitate communication among community members.

    • Oversee and facilitate training sessions, assisting with syllabus creation, teaching materials design, and progress monitoring.

    • Coordinate and supervise sewing alteration services, track orders, input data, and ensure smooth service operation.

    • Facilitate beginner sewing workshops, empowering squad members in teaching.

    • Collaborate with the team to ensure high-quality and efficient product production.

    • Manage the scheduling of parallel branches of services and training programmes.

    • Coordinate knowledge sharing and gathering sessions to strengthen bonding among sewing community members. 

    • Engage with community members to understand their needs, interests and preferences towards sewing services and skills building for programme planning.

    • Research, brainstorm and execute ideas for project enhancement.

    • This part-time role is expected to take up 20 hours per week.

    Qualifications

    • Experience and knowledge in sewing, alterations, or related fields and knowledge of sewing machine maintenance and operation as a bonus.

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of community members.

    • Experience in coordinating community projects or workshops. 

    • Passion for community engagement and skill-building initiatives.

    • Flexibility and adaptability in a community-focused environment.
